DARNLEY

A NEW-BUILD DEVELOPMENT OF 10 SHELTERED HOUSES ARRANGED IN A PROTECTIVE HORSE SHOE LAYOUT AROUND A COMMUNAL GREEN SPACE FOR BIELD HOUSING ASSOCIATION.

THE GREEN SPACE CREATES AN AREA ALLOWING THE RESIDENTS TO MEET AND SOCIALISE IN A SAFE AND SHELTERED ENVIRONMENT. THE LAYOUT OF THE UNITS WAS DEVELOPED TO SUPPORT A FORM OF A COMMUNAL GROUND SOURCE HEATING SYSTEM UTILISING A DEEP BORED PIPE SYSTEM THAT MAKES THE HOMES SUSTAINABLE AND EXTREMELY COST EFFECTIVE TO HEAT AND MAINTAIN WHEN COMBINED WITH HIGH INSULATION LEVELS TO THE FLOOR, WALL AND ROOF CONSTRUCTIONS.
